Thoughts & Observations From the 2025 Lemon Street Classic at Marietta HS in Marietta, Georgia
The largest showcase in all of Georgia High School basketball is held at the illustrious Marietta High School every year. The event honors the Lemon Street Hornets as a tribute to the All-Black high school in Marietta before integration took place in 1966. The school did stay open for a few more years and closed in 1971. 37 varsity boys’ basketball teams from across the great state of Georgia showed up and showed out for this invite only event over three days. The Northwest region for 6A this year is filled with traditional power houses once again in Wheeler, but there are some challengers who have something to say this year in Walton and Cherokee. There is no shortage of talent in this region this year and should make for an exciting race to see who comes out on top come playoff time. A familiar name is at the top of the list this year in the region as Grayson continues their streak of over 1,000 days now without losing to a team from Georgia in the regular season. But with a ton of turnover in players and talent this year in the region, there’s a lot of question marks and uncertainties to go around that need to be answered as the season plays out. The northwest Atlanta region this year has eight teams in it featuring a handful of teams that are all capable of beating anyone any given night. With some superior talent per say, there is a significant amount of talent overall that is going to make for an extremely interesting race to pay attention to as there are a lot of competitive teams that are capable of getting hot and potentially winning the state championship. The lone region in West Georgia for 6A this year holds only five teams, but there is no shortage of talent to go around. There are some really talented seniors in the region that should make it a very interesting and very competitive race to see who wins the championship in the region come playoff time. The lone region in South Georgia for 6A this year boasts a lot of individual talent. There are some really talented seniors across the region, as well as some notable young talent that will have impacts on the outcome this year. Thoughts & Observations From Day 1 of the Hard In The Paint 2025 Showcase at Maynard Jackson HS
To cap off feast week in Georgia, the Hard In the Paint event at Maynard Jackson took place and showcased several top ten matchups from across all of Georgia under one roof and several division one level talented players to go along with that. There were some intriguing matchups that led to some close finishes and even an overtime game that took us past 11 pm on Friday night. While the temperatures were cooling down outside, the temperatures were heating up inside as the talent showed up and showed out. Thoughts & Observations From The 2025 Powder Springs Showcase at Hillgrove HS
This past weekend was the Powder Springs Showcase at Hillgrove High School in Georgia. This event featured 12 teams who were all ranked in their respective classification’s Top 25 based on the most recent Swish Scouting & BTS Report rankings in Georgia. There were several close games for the day, a 40 point individual performance, and plenty of division one level talent in the gym. Thoughts & Observations From The 2025 SWD SHOWDOWN at Southwest Dekalb HS
The first weekend of the season is an exciting time of the year, a chance to start fresh, a team has everything to play for, and of course, fantastic showcases to see teams giving it their all the first weekend. The annual SW Dekalb Showdown to tipoff the season took place again at Southwest Dekalb High School, and as always, it did not disappoint. An event that featured nine Top 25 teams in their respective classifications, there was no shortage of college level talent in the building in the Panther’s Den that had two buzzer beater shots for wins and seven games of jam packed action. Thoughts & Observations From The 2025 Adidas Legacy Preseason Showcase at Southwest Dekalb
November 1st was the Adidas Legacy Preseason Showcase event that featured 8 schools’ boys and girls programs. There were four boys games and four girls games at Southwest Dekalb that tipped off the day with Stone Mountain versus McNair, and went all day and ending with a thriller between Southwest Dekalb and Cedar Grove that went on into the Dekalb, Georgia night past 11 and ending in dramatic fashion. This past Sunday was day three of three for the Swish Scouting Fall League over at Therrell High School in Atlanta, Georgia. There was talent from different corners of the state in the building, a packed environment for fall ball, and an abundant amount of talent across all brackets of play. With a number of unique and close matchups, the competition level was high over at the gym that Anthony Edwards once called home, and there were several prospects that left college coaches asking for more information about.
