This time in February is always an exciting time of year for Georgia high school basketball fans.  It’s the time of year for the region tournaments.  We get to see who’s going to make that one last push to take one of those four spots from each region to represent at the state tournament.  4A this year has been Pace Academy at the #1 spot all season long.  But the defending champs, North Oconee are right on their heels.  There are some really well-balanced regions this year in 4A that are really up for grabs and will make for an interesting week of tournament basketball to see who gets into the state tournament, and who’s seasons will be over.  Read below for the breakdown!

The 1A - D2 Region 7 has some great size and skill to make note of.  The region has some great shooters, some tough wings, and there’s even a 6’10 youngster hiding out there in the region that many people don’t know about yet.  A region that has some good talent, read below to see the breakdown for 1A - D2 Region 7 in Northwestern Georgia.

The 1A - D2 Region 3 has no shortage of size or talent this year in the Savannah, Georgia area.  A region that features a number of scholarship level players, don’t let the size of the schools fool you.  Jam packed with raw athletic talent, there are a number of teams here in this region along the Atlantic Ocean with experience, size, and talent that translates well to the next level.  To see the tremendous star power in the region and how things breakdown, read below to see the outlook for 1A - D2 Region 3 in the Savannah, Georgia region.

The 1A - D1 Region 8 tucked away in Northeast Georgia is full of great shooters this year.  Some guys who can really stretch the defense put pressure on.  With a few bigs of note as well, there’s some solid talent that is untapped and worth the look in this small school region.  To see the breakdown for this year read below to see who stands out in 1A - D1 Region 8 in Northeast Georgia.

The 1A - D1 Region 7 has a private school powerhouse up in the north woods of Georgia, but there’s some other schools who have some solid talent and are going to compete in the 1A-D1 state tournament this year.  There are some solid perimeter guys, and some good young guys with some size this year in the region.  To see the breakdown for the region read below for North Georgia 1A - D1 Region 7.

The 1A - D1 Region 6 is tucked away in Northwest Georgia, but there are some good players and prospects to be found up that way.  There are three really good teams this year who could all beat one another any given night and another few teams who are giving them a run for their money with some good talent of their own.  In a region that often goes overlooked, there’s some good size and some really good guards of note.  Read below to see the breakdown for the Northwest Georgia region for 1A-D1 this year.

The 1A - D1 Region 5 is the historically talented Atlanta city region made up of predominantly private schools.  Arguably the best region in the state of Georgia, this small school division is littered with scholarship level talent from division one on down.  With 16 teams in the region and over half of them good enough to make a run in the state tournament, this is the gauntlet of a region that it’s claimed to be.  Both state finalists from a year ago are in the region, and anybody is good enough to beat anybody on any given night.  Read below to see the breakdown for Atlanta City 1A - D1 - Region 5.

The 1A - D1 Region 4 this year has a couple of state championship contenders in the region.  With a number of scholarship level players to go around and ten teams competing, the stakes will be high this year with no shortage of talent.  In a region full of great coaching, the table is set for the chess matches to begin on the hardwood to see who will play their way into the state tournament.  Read below to see the breakdown for the 1A - D1 Region 4.

There was some elite talent in the gym at historic Maynard Jackson High School on Monday for the MLK Dream Challenge.  With 12 teams in the building who all have scholarship level talent on their rosters, there was plenty of excitement in the building as five of the six games literally came down to the last few possessions or last minute of the game.  There was talent at every age and every position in the gym and read below to see the full breakdown and all-showcase teams from the day.
